RCD keeps tripping
If an RCD keeps switching off, the cause may be an appliance, moisture or a fault on the circuit. We can investigate the affected circuit, locate the likely cause and explain what repair is needed. Tell us when it trips and which sockets or lights lose power.
Fault finding from £50 for the first hour. Further labour is £25 per hour. Parts are extra.
Socket repairs and replacement
Socket not working
A dead, damaged or intermittent socket needs checking before it is replaced. We can diagnose the problem and replace an existing socket where the wiring is suitable. We also handle loose switches and fused connection units. If several accessories need replacing, send photos so they can be priced together.
First visit from £50. Additional existing socket or switch replacements during the same visit are £15–£25 each, plus materials.
Lighting repairs
Lights flickering or not working
We investigate lights that flicker, fail to switch on or stop working intermittently. Work can include checking an existing switch, fitting or connection and replacing a faulty light fitting where suitable. Let us know if the problem affects one fitting or several lights.
Lighting fault finding or the first light fitting replacement starts from £50. Additional existing downlights are £15–£25 each, plus fittings.
Outdoor and PIR light repairs
Outside light not working
We can investigate an existing outside light or PIR security light that has stopped working, stays on or does not respond to movement. Replacement can be arranged where the existing wiring and mounting point are suitable. A photo of the light and its switch helps us estimate the job.
Existing outside light or PIR replacement starts from £65, plus the new fitting.
Existing extractor fan replacement
Extractor fan not working
If a bathroom or kitchen extractor fan has stopped running, is noisy or does not switch off correctly, we can check the existing fan and controls. We can replace an existing fan when the supply, ducting and opening are suitable. New ducting or building work would be assessed separately.
Existing extractor fan replacement starts from £50 labour, plus the fan.
Heating controls and plant
Thermostat or heating controls fault
We investigate existing room thermostats, heating controls, pump controls and related electrical faults. We can also help with small pumps, motors and fan coil units. Describe the equipment and what is happening, and send a clear photo of the controller or unit.
Heating controls fault finding starts from £65. Existing thermostat replacement starts from £65 labour, plus the thermostat.
